The continued rise in chicken meat prices has become a growing concern for low-income households, as essential food items become increasingly difficult to afford.
According to market data, the current price of broiler chicken meat has reached Rs. 584 per kilogram, while cleaned chicken meat is being sold at around Rs. 700 per kilogram in local markets.

Officials from the food market department report that the live broiler farm rate stands at Rs. 375 per kilogram. At the wholesale level, prices have been recorded at Rs. 389 per kilogram, while the retail rate has climbed to Rs. 403 per kilogram.
Consumers say the frequent price hikes are putting additional strain on household budgets, particularly for families that rely on chicken as a primary source of protein. Market observers note that unless supply conditions improve or regulatory checks are strengthened, prices may remain under pressure in the coming days.
