The Punjab government has approved the introduction of a Juvenile Driving Permit as part of a broader set of legislative and administrative reforms.
The decision was taken during the 30th meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Legislative Business and Privatization, chaired by Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, where all agenda items were reviewed and unanimously approved.

Among the key decisions was the approval of amendments to the Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance, 1965, paving the way for a regulated driving permit specifically designed for underage riders. Officials said the move aims to bring greater regulation, safety, and accountability to young drivers on the roads.
The committee also approved amendments to the Punjab Government Advertisement Policy 2026, the Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess Act, 2015, and the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012. In addition, the annual session calendar of the Punjab Assembly for the 2026–27 parliamentary year was formally cleared.
Further approvals included changes to relevant rules and the draft Punjab Home-Based Workers Rules, 2024, strengthening legal protections for informal-sector workers.
Addressing the meeting, the finance minister said the provincial government remains committed to fiscal discipline, business-friendly reforms, and the protection of workers’ rights. He instructed all concerned departments to ensure timely implementation of the approved measures.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers and senior government officials.
