Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has assigned a new mandate to the provincial police for 2026, directing authorities to transform police stations into Centers of Public Safety.
According to officials, the Punjab government plans to implement a citizen-friendly, service delivery–based policing model, with a strong focus on improving the public’s experience at police stations.

Under the new directives, the performance of Station House Officers (SHOs) will be evaluated primarily on citizen feedback. The government has instructed authorities to take immediate action in cases involving delays, rude behavior, or misuse of authority by police personnel.
The CM has also decided to link the performance of police stations with the response efficiency of the 15 emergency helpline and police patrolling units. Every citizen complaint will be required to be heard, formally registered, and addressed in a timely manner.
Officials said the reforms aim to strengthen trust between the public and law enforcement while ensuring accountability and professionalism across the police force.
