The United States has implemented new immigration regulations with the start of the New Year, introducing stricter security measures and travel restrictions affecting multiple countries.
Under the revised rules, citizens of 12 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, and Somalia, have been placed under a complete ban on entry into the United States. The measures are part of broader changes that also include higher fees and enhanced security checks for certain categories of travelers.

In addition to the full ban, partial travel restrictions have been imposed on nationals from seven other countries, according to US immigration authorities. The updated regulations also tighten security requirements for green card holders from 19 countries, subjecting them to increased scrutiny.
The US Citizenship and Immigration authorities stated that the changes are driven by national security concerns, emphasizing that the protection of the country and public safety remains the top priority.
Officials said the measures are intended to strengthen border controls and immigration oversight amid evolving global security challenges.
