The Government of Pakistan has announced a significant reduction in petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices, providing relief to consumers at the start of 2026.
According to the official notification, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs. 8.57 per litre, bringing the new rate down to Rs. 257.08, compared to the previous price of Rs. 265.65 per litre.
Similarly, the price of Motor Spirit (MS) petrol has been slashed by Rs. 10.28 per litre, lowering the rate to Rs. 253.17 per litre.

In a press release, the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) stated that the price revision was made following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), keeping in view international oil prices and market trends.
The revised fuel prices will come into effect from January 1, 2026, and will remain applicable for the current pricing cycle.
During the previous fortnight, diesel prices had already seen a Rs. 6 per litre reduction, while petrol prices were left unchanged at that time. The latest cut further strengthens relief measures aimed at easing inflationary pressure on consumers.
