The Matriculation 2026 Exam Task Force in Punjab has introduced major reforms aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness during science practical examinations. Schools and examination centers have been directed to install closed-circuit cameras in science laboratories as part of the new monitoring framework.
A circular issued to all institutions instructs administrations to complete laboratory preparations by February 28, ahead of the practical exam phase.
CCTV Cameras Now Mandatory in Science Labs
Under the new policy, all science labs used for practical exams must have functional CCTV systems. The move is designed to prevent unfair practices and ensure that students are assessed purely on merit.
Technical monitoring teams will begin visits after February 28 to inspect facilities in districts and tehsils across Punjab. Authorities have warned that strict action may be taken against principals and lab in-charges who fail to meet the standards.
Lab Equipment & Computer Systems Must Be Ready
Schools have also been ordered to make sure that:
-
Laboratory computers are fully operational
-
Required chemicals and scientific instruments are available
-
Equipment is safe and in proper working condition
These steps aim to create a standardized and secure environment for students appearing in science practicals.
New Structure of Practical Exams
The task force clarified that each practical exam will now consist of two parts:
-
Evaluation of the practical record book
-
A hands-on practical test
Resident inspectors stationed at exam centers will supervise and verify the process to maintain credibility.
Special Arrangements for Female Students
In an additional step, principals have been instructed to set up waiting rooms for parents of female students, making it easier for families to stay during exam hours.
