Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken notice of rising prices of kite-flying equipment in Lahore ahead of the Basant festival.
The matter was discussed in a meeting at the Home Department chaired by Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, where officials were briefed on arrangements for a “Safe Basant.”
Steps to Increase Supply
Authorities said the government has allowed the production of kite-flying equipment in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Multan.
Officials stated that equipment from these districts will be transported to Lahore quickly, increasing market supply.
Expected Price Relief
The government believes that improved availability of kites and string will help bring prices down. Ensuring adequate supply is part of broader efforts to make Basant celebrations safer and more organized.
Focus on ‘Safe Basant’
Authorities reiterated that safety and regulation remain priorities, and administrative measures are being taken to avoid exploitation of consumers during the festival period.
