Ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, the Punjab Social Security Department has accelerated implementation of the “Ramadan Nigehban Package” to provide financial relief to registered workers across the province.
The initiative, launched under the direction of Maryam Nawaz, aims to support low-income laborers through cash subsidies and ration assistance.
Subsidy Details Under the Ration Card Scheme
Under the Maryam Nawaz Ration Card, each registered worker will receive:
-
Up to Rs 10,000 cash subsidy during Ramadan
-
A permanent monthly subsidy of Rs 3,000 on a regular basis
The program is designed to ease the financial burden on working families during the holy month when household expenses typically increase.
Target of 1.2 Million Workers
Authorities have set a target to distribute ration cards among over 1.2 million registered workers. Monitoring is being carried out through 22 directorates across Punjab to ensure transparency and timely delivery.
Biometric Verification and Monitoring
Officials confirmed that biometric verification of workers is being conducted, and daily progress reviews are underway. Departments have been instructed to maximize card distribution before Ramadan begins.
Focus on Transparency and Timely Payments
Following the Chief Minister’s directives, all officers have been placed on alert to ensure smooth execution. Transparency and on-time payments have been declared top priorities.
The relief package is expected to provide much-needed support to laborers struggling with rising living costs.
