Residents of Gujranwala are facing serious difficulties as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices continue to rise sharply, with many dealers selling gas at rates far above the official government-approved price.
According to the latest notification, the government has increased LPG prices by Rs 6.37 per kilogram, setting the official rate at Rs 226.05 per kg. However, in many parts of Gujranwala, LPG is being sold for Rs 320 to Rs 340 per kg, causing widespread concern among consumers.
Illegal Overpricing Despite Official Rates
Despite clear instructions from authorities, several LPG distributors and retailers are reportedly ignoring the official pricing mechanism. Citizens complain that sellers are exploiting high demand and weak monitoring to charge excessive rates.
Many residents have stated that they are forced to purchase LPG at inflated prices due to limited alternatives for cooking fuel, especially during peak usage periods.

With inflation already putting pressure on daily expenses, the surge in LPG prices has further strained household finances. Middle- and low-income families are finding it increasingly difficult to manage monthly budgets.
