WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature for Android beta users, allowing channel administrators to see how many times their channel updates have been forwarded.
The feature has been included in the latest update released through the Google Play Beta Program, offering better insights into channel performance.
Forward Count Now Visible for Channel Admins
With this update, channel admins can now view the number of times their updates have been forwarded.
The forward count appears next to the forward button, alongside emoji reaction indicators, making it easier to identify which updates are being shared the most.
This enhancement is designed to help admins analyze engagement and reach more effectively.
Feature Limited to Admins Only
WhatsApp clarified that the feature is currently available only to channel administrators.
Channel followers will not be able to see the forward count at this stage.
Privacy and Encryption Remain Intact
According to WhatsApp, end-to-end encryption remains fully intact.
The company does not track who forwarded the content or where it was shared.
The forward count is calculated based on the number of selected recipients, even if the same message is forwarded multiple times within a single chat.
Availability and Future Rollout
The feature is currently available for users running WhatsApp Android beta version 2.26.4.11.
WhatsApp has indicated that after successful testing, the feature may be rolled out to more users in the near future.
