The federal government of Pakistan has officially announced a nationwide public holiday on February 5, 2026, in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day. The decision aims to express unity and support with the people of Kashmir and highlight their struggle for the right to self-determination.
According to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the public holiday will be observed across all federal and provincial government offices, educational institutions, and most private sector organizations throughout the country.
Kashmir Day is commemorated annually in Pakistan to reaffirm solidarity with the Kashmiri people. On this day, various activities such as seminars, rallies, prayer gatherings, and awareness campaigns are organized nationwide to draw attention to the political, humanitarian, and human rights issues in the region.
The government stated that the purpose of declaring the holiday is not only to show support for Kashmiris but also to educate the public about the historical, political, and humanitarian importance of the Kashmir issue.
Similar to other national days such as Pakistan Day (March 23) and Independence Day (August 14), Kashmir Solidarity Day holds significant importance in the country’s official calendar.
As in previous years, both public and private institutions are expected to organize events in 2026 to raise their voices against human rights violations and urge the international community to take notice of the ongoing situation in Kashmir.
