‘Snow Moon’ to Light Up the Sky Tonight – Brighter and Bigger Than Usual

Skywatchers will get a chance to witness a beautiful celestial event tonight as the ‘Snow Moon’ appears brighter and larger than usual. According to international media reports, the full moon on February 1 will shine with exceptional brightness, offering a stunning view for astronomy lovers and nature enthusiasts.

The US space agency NASA has confirmed that the moon will reach its peak brightness at 5:09 PM on Sunday. It will be visible near the eastern horizon around sunset and may appear orange in color during this time, creating a breathtaking scene.

‘Snow Moon’ Visible Until February 2

NASA further stated that the Snow Moon, which begins on the night of January 31, will remain visible until February 2, giving people multiple opportunities to enjoy the rare sight.

The name ‘Snow Moon’ comes from North American traditions, where heavy snowfall usually occurs during February. Due to harsh winter conditions, this full moon was named after snow-covered landscapes.

In some Native American tribes, it is also known as Slate Moon, Wind Moon, and Crow Moon, reflecting different seasonal and environmental interpretations.

Astronomy experts advise viewers to observe the moon from open areas away from city lights for the best experience.
