Lahore to Offer Free Transport During Basant Festival

The Punjab government has finalized a plan to provide free transport in Lahore during the upcoming Basant festival. The plan has been approved by the Commissioner of Lahore Division, allowing citizens to travel free of cost on Metro Bus and the Orange Line Train.

Who Will Provide Free Transport?

According to the commissioner, the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, Punjab Transport Company, and private rider companies will all participate in providing free transport. Additionally, buses have been requested from government colleges and universities to meet the increased demand during Basant.

Routes and Facilities

  • Free transport will be available on 24 main routes across Lahore.

  • Feeder routes: 228 buses providing free rides.

  • Metro Bus Service: 64 buses will operate free transport.

  • Colleges & Universities: 54 buses from colleges and 73 buses from universities.

Passengers can travel daily:

  • Orange Line Metro Train: ~250,000 people

  • Metro Bus (Gajumata to Shahdara): ~87,000 people

  • Feeder Routes: ~127,000 people

  • Rana Town to Railway Station: 13 buses

  • RA Bazaar to Chungi: 4 buses

  • Bhatti Chowk to Shad Bagh: 5 buses

  • Depot Chowk to Chungi: 4 buses

  • Canal to Jinnah Terminal: 12 buses
