A reduction of Rs 22 per kilogram has been recorded in broiler chicken meat prices, offering some relief to consumers amid rising food inflation.
According to the Market Committee, the retail price of broiler chicken meat has been reduced by Rs 22 and is now fixed at Rs 504 per kg.
However, despite the official price cut, overcharging continues across several areas of the city, with many sellers ignoring the government-issued rate list.
Official Broiler Chicken Rates
As per the latest notification, the official prices are:
-
Live Broiler (Farm Rate): Rs 320 per kg
-
Wholesale Rate: Rs 334 per kg
-
Retail Live Chicken Rate: Rs 348 per kg
Authorities say these rates are meant to ensure fair pricing for consumers.
Egg Prices Remain Stable
Meanwhile, egg prices have remained unchanged:
-
Retail Price: Rs 350 per dozen
-
Wholesale Crate Price: Rs 9,909
Stability in egg prices has provided some relief to households relying on poultry products for daily consumption.
Public Reaction
Citizens have termed the reduction in chicken prices as partial relief, stating that prices are still high compared to purchasing power.
Action Against Overcharging
The administration claims that operations against overcharging are ongoing, but consumers argue that more effective enforcement is needed to ensure price stability and availability at official rates.
