The Punjab government has requested an operational budget of Rs 4 billion to ensure the smooth, transparent, and timely implementation of the Ramadan Nigehban Package 2026.
According to official sources, the provincial government is finalizing all administrative arrangements to provide prompt relief to deserving families during the holy month of Ramadan.
Out of the proposed budget, Rs 3.5 billion will be spent through the Bank of Punjab (BOP) to manage administrative and financial operations. Meanwhile, Rs 500 million has been recommended for a public awareness campaign to inform citizens about the relief package, eligibility criteria, and distribution process.
Authorities stated that the government aims to use modern data management systems and transparent mechanisms to ensure that financial assistance reaches only eligible beneficiaries, minimizing the chances of misuse.
Special ATM Cards for Beneficiaries
Officials further revealed that the Bank of Punjab will issue special ATM cards under the Ramadan Nigehban Package. These cards will be distributed through tehsil-level camps, allowing beneficiaries to withdraw funds easily and without inconvenience.
The initiative is expected to improve efficiency, reduce complaints, and ensure dignity and ease for the public while receiving financial assistance.
Rs 30 Billion Relief Allocation This Year
It is noteworthy that the Punjab government plans to distribute Rs 30 billion under the Ramadan Nigehban Package during the current year as well. The program remains one of the province’s largest welfare initiatives, aimed at supporting low-income households during Ramadan.
Officials emphasized that adequate operational funding is essential for the effective execution of the package in 2026.
