A Major Milestone for Pakistan Women’s Football

Pakistan’s participation in the FIFA Series comes just a month after the national women’s team was officially confirmed as part of the global competition. The inclusion is being viewed as a significant milestone in the ongoing development of women’s football in Pakistan.

Football officials believe the tournament will provide valuable international exposure, helping players gain experience against diverse footballing styles on a global stage.

“Inclusion in the FIFA Series is recognition of the growing development of women’s football in Pakistan. It is a new era for the Pakistan women’s football team,” the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) said in an official statement.

FIFA–PFF Engagement Behind the Inclusion

Pakistan’s entry into the FIFA Series follows a high-level meeting between PFF President Mohsen Gilani and FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the Club World Cup in June.

During the meeting, discussions focused on:

  • Development of women’s football in Pakistan

  • Strengthening football structures

  • Potential participation of Pakistan’s men’s national team in future FIFA Series editions

“We touched upon key topics such as the development of the women’s football team and the men’s team potentially participating in next year’s FIFA Series,” Infantino said.

He also praised the PFF leadership, adding, “President Gilani brings significant experience and football management know-how to the role, and I look forward to seeing our game take positive strides under his leadership.”

FIFA Series 2026: Key Details

The FIFA Series 2026 is scheduled to take place in March and April next year, with matches hosted across Brazil, Ivory Coast, and Thailand.

For Pakistan, the tournament represents not just competition, but an opportunity to rebuild momentum, improve rankings, and strengthen the foundation of women’s football at the international level.
