The Pakistan Meteorological Department has delivered good news for citizens across the country, predicting rain and snow along with a decrease in harsh dry cold over the coming days. While some regions will experience precipitation, other areas will continue to face foggy mornings and chilly winds.

Lahore Weather Update

In Lahore, the weather remains cold and dry, with temperatures recorded at 9°C and humidity around 92%. The department predicts rain with chances of thunderstorms until January 23, which may also help improve air quality, currently reaching extreme levels with pollution indices exceeding 1100 in some areas.

Karachi Weather Forecas

Karachi has also experienced cold and dry weather, with temperatures recorded at 13°C. Light rainfall is expected on January 22 and 23, which may slightly reduce the chill. However, air quality remains poor, with the city ranked sixth most polluted globally, recording particulate matter at 180 µg/m³.

Islamabad Weather Outlook

Islamabad continues to experience dry cold, with morning temperatures around 7–8°C. The meteorological department predicts rain on January 22 and 23, which should lead to a noticeable reduction in cold intensity.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northern Areas

Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain cold and dry. However, areas including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, and Abbottabad may see cloudy skies with light rain or snow. Northern Balochistan will experience severe cold, while Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may receive light rain or snow in some regions.

Punjab and Sindh Weather Summary

  • In Punjab, cold and dry weather will continue, with Muree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas facing severe cold and partly cloudy skies.

  • Districts such as Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur may experience moderate to heavy fog in mornings and nights.

  • In Sindh, most districts will remain cold and dry. Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tandojam, Mohenjo-daro, and Jacobabad are likely to have fog during mornings and nights.

Why This Matters

These weather changes are expected to ease the harsh dry cold and improve air quality, particularly in urban centers suffering from high pollution levels. Citizens are advised to stay prepared for rain, snow, and fog, and to exercise caution while traveling in foggy conditions.
