PCB Halts Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2026 Preparations Amid Uncertainty

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has temporarily suspended all preparations related to Pakistan’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, following fresh uncertainty surrounding the tournament.

According to sources, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the halt, and Pakistan team management has been formally informed. Officials have been told that further instructions will be issued later, depending on how the situation develops.

Sources added that the team management has also been directed to prepare a parallel contingency plan in case Pakistan ultimately decides not to take part in the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan Backs Bangladesh’s Security Concerns

The development comes after Pakistan expressed full support for Bangladesh, which has raised security concerns over traveling to India for the tournament.

Pakistani officials reportedly assured Dhaka that Bangladesh’s concerns are reasonable and valid, emphasizing that no country should be pressured or intimidated regarding participation in international events.

Earlier, sources revealed that the Bangladeshi government contacted Pakistani authorities, seeking diplomatic support as discussions with the ICC continue.

Pakistan May Review Its Participation

Officials indicated that if Bangladesh’s issue remains unresolved, Pakistan will reconsider its own participation in the T20 World Cup. The stance, sources said, is based on principles of fairness and mutual respect among cricketing nations.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is expected to make a final decision by January 21, after the ICC reportedly set a deadline during meetings with the Bangladesh Cricket Board in Dhaka.
