Pakistan Announces Official and Optional Public Holidays for 2026

The federal government of Pakistan has officially announced the public and optional holidays for the year 2026, issuing a detailed notification through the Cabinet Division.

According to the schedule, the first public holiday of 2026 will be observed on February 5 (Thursday) on the occasion of Kashmir Day, followed by Pakistan Day on March 23 (Monday).

For Eid-ul-Fitr, public holidays will fall on March 21, 22, and 23, while Labour Day will be observed on May 1. Youm-e-Takbeer will be marked with a holiday on May 28.

The government has also announced Eid-ul-Adha holidays from May 27 to May 29, and public holidays on 9th and 10th Muharram (June 24 and 25).

Independence Day will be celebrated on August 14 (Friday), while Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) will be observed on August 25 (Tuesday).

Other public holidays include Allama Iqbal Day on November 9 (Monday) and Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas on December 25. Additionally, December 26 will be a holiday exclusively for the Christian community.

Separate bank holidays will be observed on January 1, February 18, and July 1.

The notification covers national, religious, and minority festivals, allowing institutions and citizens to plan ahead for the year.
