The federal government of Pakistan has decided to propose an increase in electricity prices, submitting a request for 47 paisa per unit under the Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA).
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) filed the application with NEPRA, suggesting the price hike based on December’s fuel price adjustments.

NEPRA Hearing Scheduled
NEPRA has scheduled a hearing on January 29 to review the CPPA’s request. During the hearing, the authority will decide whether to approve or reject the proposed increase in electricity tariffs.
Impact on Consumers
If approved, the additional charges will be reflected in February’s electricity bills, potentially adding to the already rising inflation and household expenses. Officials have warned that consumers may face a noticeable increase in monthly electricity costs.
